Industrial electrification has the potential to help U.S. manufacturers reduce operating costs, improve safety and reliability, enhance competitiveness, and advance climate and pollution goals. This report offers an analysis of industrial electrification technologies, including heat pumps and thermal batteries, and assesses alternative rate structures in four utility service territories across Colorado and Illinois, concluding that these rate design adjustments for industrial customers play a key role in promoting efficient, low-cost and low-carbon technologies.
